The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Cycling Club (HKUSTCC) is a sub-organization of the Mainland Students and Scholars Society (MSSS) at HKUST. Founded in 2022 by cycling enthusiasts at HKUST, the club boasts a diverse membership including HKUST students, faculty, alumni, and external individuals, encompassing both Mainland students and scholars, as well as local and international students and scholars.

Over the past two years, the club has established various activities, primarily categorized as Regular Events, Weekend Long Distance Rides (LDR), Leisure Rides, and Outside Hong Kong Trips.

Regular Events

Regular Events typically involve short rides around HKUST, lasting about 1.5 hours. The most common routes include Fei Ngo Shan, Po Toi O, and Tseung Kwan O Bridge.

Weekend Long-Distance Rides

Weekend LDRs are held on weekends, covering distances exceeding 50km within Hong Kong. These rides offer diverse routes, with the leader organizing the itinerary and leading the group. The starting and ending points are at HKUST, but participants can join or leave at any point along the route. Popular routes include Tai Leng, Siu Leng, Tung Chung Airport, Tai Mo Shan, and more.

Leisure Rides

Leisure Rides cater to individuals who don't own bikes but wish to experience cycling in Hong Kong. The club coordinates bike rentals through local shops, with leaders planning routes and providing safety and medical support throughout the ride. The club only charges for rental costs, with other expenses shared equally among participants. These rides prioritize scenic views and photography, with moderate intensity suitable for all ages. Popular routes include the Tai Mei Tuk Classic Route and the Shenzhen Border Route.

Outside Hong Kong Trips

Outside Hong Kong Trips encompass cycling activities outside Hong Kong, including club-organized trips to Guangdong and participation in large-scale events hosted by other organizers. The club typically arranges bike transportation, accommodation, and itineraries for group travel. Past trips have included the Mo Fan 200, San Zhou Tian Yun Hai Plaza, and others.

The club supports and assists cyclists who wish to participate in local cycling competitions. We have members joining local cycling teams (e.g., RAFTCC) and participating in competitions (e.g., Cycling Festival Lap Races, San Po Kong Lap Races, Heung Yuen Wai Lap Races, Fei Ngo Shan ITT). Our aspiration is to one day compete as a team in cycling events.
